Panel Discussion: Green hydrogen - Is the hype over and will blue hydrogen be more than just a bridge technology?

23 Oct 2025
Carbon Utilisation and Blue Hydrogen

With severe geopolitical changes and a shifting policy landscape with regards to sustainability and energy transition, it is time to look at the market prospects of green hydrogen and discuss implications for project developers, investors, and offtakers. The slow market ramp-up, delayed infrastructure projects, and still high investment needs have slowed down the growth of the green hydrogen economy. Investors are more reluctant to invest and offtakers are still cautious. On the other hand, technological advancements in CCU/S and more pragmatic approaches towards this solution have made blue hydrogen a viable alternative to meet hydrogen demands and contribute to de-fossilization. This leads to the question: Is the hype over and will blue hydrogen be more than just a bridge technology?
