Designing Fire & Gas Safety into Power-to-X
22 Oct 2026
Open Theatre Forum
Power-to-X technologies such as sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), e-methanol and green ammonia are becoming increasingly important in the energy transition, but their production introduces a range of gas and flame detection challenges.
This session will explore key hazards associated with their processes including flammable and toxic gases and liquids, and how the right detection philosophy can help mitigate these risks. We will look at the importance of considering gas and flame detection early in product design, including the use of dispersion analysis and fire & gas mapping to optimise detector selection, positioning and coverage.
