Green Corridors: Accelerating the energy transition and industrial decarbonization of the EU and Brazil

22 Oct 2026
Hydrogen Technology World Expo 2

Green corridors are emerging as a key enabler for scaling global markets for green fuels, renewable hydrogen and other low-carbon molecules. In this context, Brazil and Europe are uniquely positioned to lead this energy transition, combining Brazil’s vast renewable energy production potential with Europe’s growing demand for sustainable energy solutions, further supported by the recently ratified Mercosur Free Trade Agreement.
This session presents the Green Corridor Brazil–Europe, a strategic partnership initially connecting the ports of Pecém, Rotterdam and Duisport to establish resilient and scalable trade routes for hydrogen and its derivatives. By advancing integrated infrastructure and coordinated port operations, the initiative aims to provide reliable supply chain solutions and reduce uncertainty for industry stakeholders.
The corridor has since evolved into a multi-port transatlantic network, incorporating the Port of Rostock (Germany), the Port of Antwerp-Bruges (Belgium) and Porto do Açu (Brazil). Recent agreements—including a Memorandum of Understanding between Pecém and Rostock and a Letter of Intent between Porto do Açu and Antwerp-Bruges—demonstrate concrete progress in developing dedicated transport routes for green hydrogen, ammonia and e-fuels. This is an opportunity for project developers, technology providers and also green shipping companies to establish those locations as part of their route for fuelling.
The presentation will showcase concrete initiatives already underway, including institutional partnerships, capacity-building efforts, upcoming projects designed to prepare ports and logistics hubs for hydrogen-based trade as well as resilient supply chain modelling options.
By connecting Brazil's production potential with Europe's industrial demand, the Green Corridor partnership offers a scalable and secure pathway for decarbonizing industry, strengthening energy security and cross-continental cooperation and trade between both regions. Furthermore, Brazilian ports represent a window for European companies aiming to enter the Global Hydrogen value chain, given that ports also offer land for industrial plants, which can significantly reduce export logistic costs.
Taking advantage of the possibilities offered by the H2 Technology Expo participants will gain insights into how this green corridor has evolved from a strategic concept into a real market gateway for green products, enabling Brazilian exports to reach European offtakers and positioning ports as a bridge for private companies to develop hydrogen projects, while also having the opportunity create connections with other participants and leverage potential new projects.
