Hamburg Hydrogen - on track for launch in 2027!
Hamburg offers one of the largest cohesive industrial areas in Europe with potential offtakers from industry, logistics and aviation. The Free and Hanseatic City is thus perfectly positioned to become a model region for the whole hydrogen value chain. An electrolysis plant, the Hamburg Green Hydrogen Hub, and a dedicated hydrogen gas grid (HH-WIN) within the industrial area of the Port of Hamburg are already under construction and will start operations in 2027, with tesa as first local customer. Also the connection to the European Hydrogen Backbone (Hyperlink 1) is to be completed next year. A terminal for the import of low carbon ammonia is currently in the approval phase, perspectively contributing to Hamburg becoming an import hub for green hydrogen and synthetic green fuels. Mr. Rispens will outline the different projects and how they come together in the emerging new hydrogen industry.
