LH2 Supply Chain Integration Concepts for Future End Use Applications
Hydrogen will play a key role in the energy transition, and cryogenic liquid hydrogen (LH₂) can offer relevant technical advantage H₂ carriers for specific applications. LH₂ provides a credible pathway to store clean energy and deliver low-carbon molecules for different use cases. Scalable LH₂ supply chain technologies can enable the decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors where electrification alone can become challenging, for instance in marine, aviation, heavy-duty transport, industry, and clean power generation. To enable competitive decarbonized solutions, innovative integrated technical solutions are required across the entire LH₂ value chain. This talk will present key technical solutions to make LH₂ an affordable alternative to other hydrogen carriers, including the evaluation of different LH2 terminal integration concepts for up to 1000tpd (including LH2 storage, regasification and boil-off gas management solutions), techno-economic barriers and safety considerations. The exemplary use case of LH2 regasification for cold utilization and clean power generation (e.g. for sustainable data centres) will be used as case study.
