Cortem Group: Engineering Safe Electrical Solutions for Hazardous Areas Since 1968

CORTEM GROUP Hall: B7 Stand: 7C35

The global energy industry demands electrical equipment capable of operating safely and reliably in some of the world's most challenging environments. With decades of experience in explosion-proof technologies, Cortem Group has established itself as a trusted international partner for EPC contractors, system integrators and end users, delivering certified solutions that combine engineering excellence, innovation and uncompromising safety. From traditional Oil & Gas applications to the emerging renewable energy sector, the Group continues to develop technologies that support the evolving needs of hazardous-area installations worldwide.

For more than five decades, Cortem Group has been designing and manufacturing explosion-proof electrical equipment for hazardous areas, earning the trust of leading EPC contractors and end users across the global energy industry. Founded in Italy in 1968, the Group has built its reputation on engineering excellence, product reliability and continuous innovation. Today, it is a trusted partner to some of the world's largest energy companies, supporting projects in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Chemical, Marine, Offshore and Power Generation sectors.

Today, Cortem Group brings together the expertise of Cortem and Elfit, offering one of the industry's most comprehensive portfolios of explosion-proof electrical equipment. Entirely designed and manufactured in Italy, the Group combines decades of engineering know-how with a strong international presence through its sister companies in Dubai, Singapore, Buenos Aires and São Paulo, ensuring close support to customers and projects worldwide.

Its products are certified according to the major international standards, including ATEX, IECEx and TR CU, while selected product families also comply with INMETRO (Brazil), UKEX (United Kingdom), ECASEx (United Arab Emirates), CCoE (India) and CCC (China), enabling Cortem Group to support industrial projects across virtually every major global market.

From standard Ex products to fully engineered solutions, every product is developed according to the highest international quality and safety standards, guaranteeing reliable operation even in the world's most demanding industrial environments.

Among its broad product range, two business areas represent the core of Cortem Group's technological leadership: explosion-proof LED lighting and customized explosion-proof electrical panels.

Explosion-proof LED Lighting

Cortem Group was among the pioneers in developing LED technology specifically for hazardous locations. Rather than simply replacing conventional light sources with LEDs, the company engineered entirely new lighting platforms designed around the specific thermal and performance requirements of LED technology.

This approach has resulted in highly efficient lighting solutions that combine exceptional reliability, long service life and reduced maintenance with significant energy savings. Today, hundreds of thousands of Cortem LED luminaires are installed worldwide in refineries, offshore platforms, FPSOs, chemical plants and industrial facilities operating in classified areas.

The portfolio includes advanced high-bay luminaires such as the FlowEx series, featuring the patented Heat Destroyer cooling system for superior thermal management, as well as the innovative LifEx linear lighting range, developed according to circular economy principles with a lightweight, modular design that simplifies installation, maintenance and future upgrades while maximizing energy efficiency and product lifespan.

Explosion-proof Electrical Panels

Alongside lighting, Cortem Group is internationally recognized for its engineered explosion-proof electrical panels, designed to meet the specific requirements of complex industrial installations.

The company develops and manufactures customized low-voltage assemblies for power distribution, motor control, lighting distribution, instrumentation, automation and process control, providing complete solutions tailored to each project's technical specifications.

Every panel is engineered in close cooperation with EPC contractors and end users, combining certified Ex protection with high manufacturing quality, reliability and ease of maintenance. This engineering capability allows Cortem Group to support major industrial projects worldwide, delivering solutions that integrate seamlessly into critical production processes while ensuring maximum operational safety.

Engineering Innovation for the Energy Transition

Innovation has always been at the heart of Cortem Group's strategy. Continuous investment in research and development enables the company to anticipate the evolving needs of the global energy market, supporting customers not only in traditional Oil & Gas applications but also in emerging sectors such as hydrogen and renewable energy.

One of the latest examples of this commitment is the development of stand-alone photovoltaic systems specifically designed and certified for installation in hazardous areas and other particularly harsh industrial environments. Engineered to operate reliably in ambient temperatures ranging from -60°C to +60°C, these modular solutions are available in different configurations and combine high energy efficiency, exceptional reliability and outstanding resistance to extreme weather conditions. They provide a dependable source of renewable energy for remote industrial installations where safety, operational continuity and low maintenance are essential.

Photovoltaic technology represents a strategic pillar of Cortem Group's future development. Building on this platform, the company is also developing integrated energy storage systems that can be combined with solar installations to mitigate the intermittency of renewable energy generation, improving energy continuity, efficiency and sustainability for critical industrial applications.
