Electric Hydrogen Marks the Opening of its Electrolyzer Gigafactory to Decarbonize Heavy Industry with Massachusetts-based Manufacturing

Electric Hydrogen Hall: A1 Stand: 1F75

NATICK, MASS. – Yesterday, Electric Hydrogen celebrated the opening of its Devens, Massachusetts gigafactory with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by over 200 employees, community members and policy makers, including the Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, Congresswoman Lori Trahan and State Secretary of Economic Development Yvonne Hao.

The momentous event officially opens one of the largest electrolyzer factories in the world. Low-cost green hydrogen, uniquely enabled by Electric Hydrogen’s electrolyzer technology, is required to decarbonize critical industries such as steel, fertilizer, shipping and aviation. Once fully ramped, a single year of the factory’s 1.2GW nameplate manufacturing capacity will double today’s global installed capacity of electrolysis.

“At the heart of our mission to decarbonize is the world’s most powerful electrolyzer stack which we will build right here in Devens with the help of skilled local folks, and with the warm and gracious support of the local community,” said Chief Executive Officer, Raffi Garabedian.

Headquartered in Natick, Massachusetts where its core technology was developed, Electric Hydrogen is proud to expand its Massachusetts presence into Devens to scale its technology manufacturing, as a natural continuation of its investment into the community.

Governor Maura Healey addressed the crowd, “We just had the benefit of touring this amazing gigafactory, [which] is a huge win obviously for the company but for our state and more importantly for our world because of the need to help us accelerate a transition away from fossil fuels.”

The Governor was followed by Congresswoman Trahan and Secretary Hao who recounted Massachusetts’ long history of supporting revolutionary technology and industrial-scale business.

“Electric Hydrogen is a Massachusetts success story – and it’s one that’s going to have a tremendous impact across the United States and around the world,” stated Congresswoman Trahan. “The groundbreaking work happening at Electric Hydrogen encapsulates how Massachusetts businesses are leading the way on the development and deployment of the clean energy technology that will fuel our nation’s future.”

“It is really hard work to make this happen,” spoke Secretary Hao. “Thank you so much for not only doing well as a business but actually doing good in the world by solving these really hard problems.”

Derek Warnick, Electric Hydrogen’s Chief Financial Officer, led Governor Healey, Secretary Hao, Secretary Tepper, Dr. Emily Reichert, Congresswoman Lori Trahan, and the company’s leadership in the official ribbon cutting.

“Electric Hydrogen was deliberately founded in California and Massachusetts to access the best and most innovative talent in the country.  That talent is here with us now, and our confidence has been rewarded with the development of an electrolyzer technology that vastly outperforms any electrolyzer ever built. We look forward to fulfilling our promise of global decarbonization as much as we look forward to strengthening our community here in Devens,” Warnick concluded.
