Metacon’s 20 MW alkaline electrolyser module is a repeatable building block for hydrogen plants from 20 MW to several hundred megawatts. It combines PERIC’s proven large-scale pressurised alkaline electrolyser technology with Metacon’s expertise in automation, control systems and plant integration.

Its high capacity reduces the number of modules, connections and auxiliary components required per megawatt. Compared with a plant built from smaller modules, the design can lower steel module costs by up to 30%, reduce piping, insulation and pipe supports by up to 50%, and cut area-related costs per megawatt by 50–70%. The result is a more compact plant layout with less installation work and lower balance-of-plant complexity.

Each module is configured for the project’s site layout, utilities, automation, purification, compression interface and downstream hydrogen use. Metacon delivers the module as part of a complete solution covering engineering, integration, commissioning and long-term service support for applications such as green ammonia, fertiliser production, fossil-free steel, e-fuels and refinery operations.
