Cryogenic Fractionation
Cryogenic Fractionation technology is an all-electric, solvent-free solution that captures CO₂ as a high-purity liquid product. Using precisely controlled temperature and pressure, it separates materials by boiling point to isolate specific chemicals from industrial process streams—serving NGL recovery, LPG/LNG production, refinery off-gas processing, and carbon capture. For CCUS, CO₂ condenses into liquid while remaining gases pass through. Honeywell Technologies' dual refrigerant CO₂ fractionation (DRCF) delivers bulk CO₂ removal with simultaneous liquid product recovery and reduced energy consumption.
Features and benefits:
- 100% electrically driven — no steam required; compatible with renewable power
- High-purity liquid CO₂ product — ready for pumping to transport/storage pressure
- Compact footprint — lower equipment count vs. amine systems
- Flexible integration — combines with Selexol™, PSA, or membranes.
- TRL 9 — 400+ commercial units — proven since 1976 at industrial scale
- Full lifecycle support — feasibility through FEED, commissioning, and operations
