The DACMA Direct Air Capture machine is a modular, scalable plant that captures CO2 directly from ambient air for permanent storage (DACCS) or industrial utilization (CCU), such as e-methanol, synthetic fuels, and CO2-based concrete.

How it works: large fans draw ambient air through a filtration system. The air passes through a proprietary adsorbent layer that binds CO2 molecules, while the depleted air is released back into the atmosphere. The captured CO2 is then released again through desorption and prepared for storage or further use.

Core technology: at the heart of the system is a patented reactor design that applies principles from aerospace engineering to optimize airflow and maximize the contact surface between air and adsorbent, increasing capture efficiency compared to conventional designs. The adsorbent material was selected from an evaluation of more than 40 candidate materials and remains interchangeable, allowing continuous performance improvements without replacing the entire system.

Main features: modular architecture that scales from pilot to gigaton capacity; climate-resilient design validated in diverse environments, from offshore installations to tropical, high-humidity climates; interchangeable adsorbents for ongoing efficiency gains; and a proven operational track record of more than 3,000 runtime hours across installations in Brazil and Europe.

Benefits: the modular design allows customers to deploy capacity incrementally and expand as demand grows, reducing upfront investment risk. The climate-resilient design enables deployment in locations best suited to renewable energy availability or storage infrastructure, rather than being limited to a single climate zone. Combined with DACMA's transparent carbon accounting approach, the system supports customers seeking verifiable, high-quality carbon removal at industrial scale.
