The X-plore 8700 is specifically designed for work areas that require explosion protection and offers dedicated ATEX safety functions accordingly. These include a fast, automated overcurrent shutdown that prevents sparking at the battery contacts and the encapsulation of high-voltage components to consistently isolate electronic components from the outside atmosphere. Redundant safety circuits ensure safe operation and continued protection of the user even in the unlikely event of a circuit failure. Thanks to the explosion-proof design, the X-plore 8700 blower unit can be used in Ex zones 1, 2, 21 and 22. The IP65 certification also guarantees effective protection against dust and splash water.

The X‑plore 8700 system reliably filters particles and gaseous particles from the breathing air. The extensive portfolio of filter types offers effective protection against a variety of respiratory risks and hazardous substances, including particles, aerosols, vapours and gases, thus enabling safe working in a wide range of application areas. In combination with a full-face mask, the X‑plore 8700 achieves the highest corresponding protection class, TM3. For use with loose-fitting headpieces, such as hoods or helmets, many combinations are also certified to the highest applicable protection class, TH3.
