Formic Acid
In a variety of cleaning products formic acid is an active ingredient for the removal of limescale and other deposits. Formic acid further acts as an efficient disinfectant and preservative. In agriculture formic acid serves as a bio-degradable pesticide. It is the preferred option for honeybee hive management where it is deployed as a miticide targeting tracheal and varroa mites. In materials applications formic acid may be used as a coagulant for natural latex rubber and in the tanning process for leather.
