HELENUS
As part of the HELENUS project, a highly efficient, low-emission SOFC system for use on a cruise ship is being developed and demonstrated. This system is capable of generating both electricity and high-temperature heat. Compared with current systems based exclusively on internal combustion engines (ICEs), fuel savings of over 23 per cent could be achieved. The demonstration of the SOFC plant will take place on the seagoing technology platform MODULARIS. A bunkering station will demonstrate how the large-scale MaReBHy (Maritime Research Facility for Bunkering of Liquid Hydrogen) plant will operate and what experiments, trials and demonstrations can be carried out on the facility.
