HH-WIN – Hamburg Hydrogen Industry Grid

Hamburger Energienetze GmbH Hall: B6 Stand: 6J49

HH-WIN is being developed by Hamburger Energienetze to provide hydrogen transport infrastructure for energy-intensive industries in and around the Port of Hamburg. The first 40 kilometres of the network are scheduled to begin operating in 2027, with an extension to 60 kilometres planned by 2031.

Connected to Germany’s hydrogen core network, HH-WIN will link industrial users to local hydrogen production and import infrastructure, as well as national and European supply routes. At the Moorburg energy site, the HH-WIN H₂ Connector will serve as a central interface between the distribution network, the hydrogen core network, and the 100 MW Hamburg Green Hydrogen Hub electrolyser. The network is designed to transport around 3 TWh of hydrogen per year initially, increasing to around 6.4 TWh per year with further expansion.

With an annual transport capacity of up to 6.4 TWh, HH-WIN will enable industrial users to replace fossil natural gas with hydrogen in suitable applications. In this way, HH-WIN will provide the key infrastructure needed to transform and decarbonise Hamburg’s energy-intensive industries.
