AEM: Our anion exchange membranes are polymer electrolyte membranes functionalized with cationic groups that selectively conduct anions (OH-, Br-) while blocking cations and gases and enabling ion transport. It is generally used as a key component in CO2 electrolysis, alkaline fuel cells (OH- conduction), flow batteries (ion cross suppression) and water electrolysis (low-cost hydrogen production).
PEM: Our proton exchange membranes are polymeric membranes functionalized with anionic groups (sulfonic acid groups -SO₃(-)) that selectively conduct cations and block anions, which are suitable for ion separation and transport in acidic and neutral electrochemical systems. Our proton exchange membranes enable proton (H(⁺)) conduction in fuel cells and electrolyzers, and can also serve as separators in redox flow batteries (e.g., all-vanadium batteries) to limit vanadium-ion crossover while permitting H(⁺) transport.
