Microwave Plasma Burner

IMP GmbH Hall: B6 Stand: 6B25

IMP’s Microwave Plasma Burner is a flexible technology platform for industrial applications requiring high temperatures, concentrated energy input or plasma-assisted chemical reactions. The system uses electrical microwave energy to generate and sustain a high-temperature plasma, providing an alternative or supplement to conventional fossil-fuel-fired burners and thermal processing equipment.

Microwave plasma technology enables energy to be introduced directly into the process gas and reaction zone. This creates opportunities for rapid process response, flexible control and the electrification of processes that are currently dependent on natural gas or other combustion-based heat sources. When powered by renewable electricity, the technology can support the reduction of direct process emissions and the wider decarbonisation of energy-intensive industrial operations.

Potential applications include high-temperature process heating, plasma chemistry, gas conversion, thermal decomposition, material activation, surface treatment, advanced-material production and the treatment of selected industrial residues or waste streams. The platform can be adapted to different hydrocarbons, flow rates, geometries and integration requirements.

IMP provides feasibility testing, electromagnetic and process simulation, burner development, pilot trials, system engineering, scale-up and integration support.
