SeeO2 Energy’s Reversible Solid Oxide Fuel Cell is an advanced electrochemical technology designed to utilize captured CO₂ as a feedstock for the production of valuable fuels and chemicals.

In co-electrolysis mode, the system simultaneously converts CO₂ and H₂O into carbon monoxide and hydrogen, producing syngas for downstream synthesis. This provides a direct pathway to transform captured carbon into useful products, supporting a circular carbon economy and enabling CO₂ utilization alongside hydrogen production.

The high-temperature solid oxide process enables integration of electrical and thermal energy, including opportunities to utilize available industrial heat. Co-electrolysis also combines CO₂ conversion and hydrogen production within a single electrochemical process, providing an efficient route to the syngas intermediate required by a range of Power-to-X applications.

The resulting syngas can be further processed into synthetic fuels and chemicals, including sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF). This is particularly relevant to the European market, where the decarbonization of aviation is driving demand for scalable pathways to sustainable aviation fuels. The technology is not limited to aviation applications and can support multiple carbon utilization pathways depending on downstream synthesis and end-product requirements.

The reversible architecture provides additional system flexibility by allowing operation in fuel-cell mode, converting hydrogen into electricity when required. This bidirectional capability can facilitate integration with renewable electricity, carbon capture systems, hydrogen infrastructure, industrial heat sources, and downstream fuel synthesis.
