Solid Hydrogen Carriers – Metal Hydride Storage
Fraunhofer IFAM Dresden develops metal hydride materials, composites and storage systems for safe and compact hydrogen storage. The portfolio covers low-, medium- and high-temperature hydrides as well as hydride composites with improved heat transfer and gas permeability.
Development spans alloy production and powder processing through hydrogen-specific characterization to storage-system integration.
Metal hydrides can enable high volumetric hydrogen densities, low operating pressures and storage without boil-off losses, making them attractive for stationary, mobile and portable applications.
