SydroALK™ — AEM Bipolar Plate Coatings
Rising contact resistance at a bipolar plate can turn surface degradation into an electrical efficiency penalty. SydroALK™ is being developed to protect stainless steel AEM electrolyser bipolar plates with a conductive Ni-based film that helps limit direct alkaline exposure, corrosion and passivation.
The coating is configured around the plate substrate, geometry, surface condition and operating environment. Current development capability covers customisable Ni-based coatings from 0.1 to 5 μm on substrates up to 300 × 600 mm. Thickness, electrical performance and alkaline durability require validation on representative components.
For AEM stack developers and plate suppliers, the approach combines interface protection with a practical manufacturing pathway. Sydrogen supports coating development and agreed conductivity, adhesion and corrosion evaluations, with coated-component supply or selected process transfer considered as the programme progresses.
SydroALK™ is open for co-development. Share your plate drawing, alkaline operating conditions and target contact resistance to discuss a coating evaluation and manufacturing route for your AEM programme.
