SydroDIAMOND® — Precious-Metal-Free PEM Fuel Cell Plate Coating
Choosing a metallic bipolar plate substrate should not separate component economics from the needs of the membrane and catalyst. SydroDIAMOND® provides a precious-metal-free carbon coating for SUS304, SUS316L and titanium plates, giving PEM fuel cell developers a broader set of material options for their stack design.
Based on filtered cathodic vacuum arc (FCVA) technology, the coating is designed to combine a low-resistance electrical interface with dense surface protection. Controlling corrosion and metallic-ion release helps protect the adjoining membrane electrode assembly, while the ultra-thin coating architecture addresses coating material use. The combination is relevant to mobility and stationary energy programmes where substrate selection and qualification confidence are central purchasing decisions.
Sydrogen can support a comparison using your substrate, plate geometry and intended operating conditions, reviewing contact resistance before and after exposure alongside ion release and coating integrity. Ask to review the supporting ZBT validation evidence and discuss representative samples, expected annual volume and the qualification milestones needed to assess SydroDIAMOND® for your programme.
