SydroNEXUS™ Functional Electrolytes — SOFC & SOEC Thin Films
An SOC electrolyte must conduct ions while separating the gas environments on either side of the cell. Variations in film thickness, density or continuity can affect that function and create inconsistent cell performance. SydroNEXUS™ Functional Electrolytes develops controlled ceramic films around these requirements.
Material routes include gadolinium-doped ceria (GDC) and yttria-stabilised zirconia (YSZ), with composition and thickness tailored to the cell architecture. Current development capability covers ceramic and metal-supported ceramic substrates up to 20 × 30 cm and functional electrolyte thicknesses up to 15 μm.
PVD process control addresses film composition, thickness, density and coverage. For SOFC and SOEC cell developers, this links electrolyte development with repeatable deposition on representative components. The coating and evaluation plan are selected together, with ionic resistance, coating quality and relevant operating behaviour considered against the application.
Share your substrate, cell structure, temperature range and electrolyte requirements with Sydrogen. Discuss a development programme and the coated-component supply or selected process-transfer route that fits your intended production strategy.
