SydroNEXUS™ Interconnect — SOFC & SOEC Protective Coatings
Metallic interconnect oxidation and chromium release can increase electrical losses and affect neighbouring cell components. SydroNEXUS™ Interconnect addresses these mechanisms with customisable spinel coatings for stainless steel and alloy substrates used in solid oxide fuel cell and electrolysis programmes.
The coating is developed to suppress chromium volatilisation and surface oxidation while maintaining low area-specific resistance at 600–800°C. Current development capability covers components up to 20 × 30 cm and coating thicknesses up to 60 μm. The appropriate film and process window depend on the interconnect design and operating environment.
Controlled PVD deposition supports thickness, composition and coverage consistency. For component suppliers and stack manufacturers, this connects interface engineering with the repeatability needed for pilot and production programmes, with coated-component supply or selected process transfer available for discussion.
Share your alloy, formed geometry, gas environment and thermal cycling requirements with Sydrogen. An agreed evaluation can assess coating coverage, adhesion and resistance behaviour on representative interconnects before production decisions.
