SydroPEARL® — Platinum-Free Titanium Bipolar Plate Coating
Platinum used across large bipolar plate surfaces adds precious-metal demand as PEM electrolyser capacity grows. SydroPEARL® addresses this opportunity with a platinum-free coating architecture specifically for titanium bipolar plates, helping manufacturers improve coating material economics while protecting efficient current transfer.
The coating is designed to retain low interfacial contact resistance after acidic, high-potential exposure. Reported titanium bipolar plate values are 1.22 mΩ·cm² initially and 3.75 mΩ·cm² after exposure, both measured at 1.4 MPa. The reported exposure was 2 V versus SHE for 10 hours at 80°C in pH 2 sulphuric acid with 5 ppm HF. These component test results support coating comparison; application performance depends on geometry, surface preparation and qualification conditions.
Sydrogen supports representative sample coating, conductivity and electrochemical evaluation, and discussion of coated-component supply or selected process transfer. Share your titanium bipolar plate design, operating conditions, current coating and expected annual volume to explore a platinum-free alternative. This offering concerns the bipolar plate coating; catalyst platinum requirements are separate.
