SydroPEARL® Plus — Low-Platinum BPP & PTL Coatings
For PEM electrolyser manufacturers seeking to reduce platinum use across several current-carrying components, SydroPEARL® Plus provides a low-platinum coating route for titanium and SUS316L bipolar plates and titanium porous transport layers (PTLs). The specified coating loadings are 0.02 mg/cm² for bipolar plates and 0.04 mg/cm² for titanium PTLs.
The coating is designed to maintain low contact resistance after acidic, high-potential exposure. Its broader component and substrate coverage allows engineering and procurement teams to consider precious-metal intensity alongside electrical performance and material selection. This is especially relevant when a programme needs to evaluate both plate and transport-layer interfaces as electrolyser capacity expands.
Sydrogen can coat representative components and assess initial and post-exposure contact resistance, electrochemical response, coating integrity and platinum loading against agreed requirements. Performance and the final coating specification are confirmed for the intended component geometry and operating environment. Share your BPP or PTL design, substrate, platinum-reduction target and annual volume to discuss sample qualification and a suitable supply or in-house production route.
