The H2 Battery as physical hydrogen infrastructure standard in the H2 Rolling Pipeline
The H2 Battery consist of four patented and standardised components leading to a simple and cost-efficient physical storage standard made up of a high pressure storage, a low pressure system, a simple valve architecture and an active gas, energy and data interface.
SFEERS - Smart, Flexible, Efficient, Energy Reservoirs:
Up to 1000 bar pressure storage: The sphere as a pressure vessel enables a high gravimetric and volumetric energy density and thus leads to a higher storage capacity than existing storage solutions.
Lightweight and cost-efficient: Due to the unique combination of shape, size and functionality, the SFEER hydrogen cells create an energy storage device that requires significantly less raw material. The result: less weight, fewer costs. higher efficiency.
Safest energy storage solution ever designed: The fragmentation of the energy into small units leads to a multiplication of the safety functions, making our solution safer than electric batteries and conventional hydrogen storage systems.
FDP - Fuel Distribution Plate
This patented low-pressure filling and discharge architecture is a steel-made, mesh-like circulation system consisting of through-pipes with a diameter of one millimetre for the inflow and outflow of hydrogen. As a series product manufactured cost-effectively and with minimal material usage it ensures a high gravimetric energy density, enabling the H2 Battery to be connected to established high-pressure refuelling stations with minimal CAPEX requirements and to extract hydrogen easily for virtually any application, whether stationery, industrial or mobile.
Valve Architecture
A solenoid valve integrated in each single SFEER handles the filling, shut-off and pressure regulation between the high-pressure storage tank and the low-pressure fuel distribution plate, acting as a pressure-assisted check valve (PACV).
In the event of an accident or damage, the PACV is designed to automatically isolate each individual SFEER and its connection to the Fuel Distribution Plate, preventing uncontrolled hydrogen release. The H2 Battery therefore meets the highest safety standards.
Active gas, energy and data interface
The interface transfers hydrogen, energy and data simultaneously. Each H2 Battery can communicate fill level, temperature, pressure, location, cycle count and maintenance status. This turns multiple modules into an intelligent integrated storage system and digitally connected assets.
