In the UpLift project under the Aviation Research Programme, DLR Flight Experiments and the DLR Institute of Lightweight Systems are working with several SMEs to develop wing pods for the Do328CUPL, designed to carry liquid-hydrogen tanks with a diameter of 400 millimetres. A first flight with such a tank is planned from Braunschweig to Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg, where refuelling and defuelling will be tested before the aircraft returns to Braunschweig with the empty tank.
