AGC has built its chemicals business on more than a century of experience in glass, fluorochemicals and specialty materials. Today we apply that expertise across the hydrogen value chain.

For carbon capture, our XOL Series is an absorbent that contains no water, which reduces the energy lost to water evaporation during regeneration. Lab studies show that CO₂ can be released below 100°C, and the technology was publicly demonstrated at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. We are also developing silica sorbents loaded with amines for direct air capture and point source capture, based on our SUNSPHERE silica carriers.

For hydrogen production and use, we supply ion exchange membranes for water electrolysis and ionomer binder materials for fuel cell electrodes.
