How can surplus electricity from wind and solar power be used instead of being curtailed or lost?
This video provides a simple introduction to CYTOK’s Power-to-Gas technology. It shows how renewable electricity is first used to produce hydrogen, which is then combined with carbon dioxide and converted into synthetic methane. The resulting renewable gas can be stored over longer periods and later used for heat generation, power production or other energy applications.
Because synthetic methane is compatible with existing gas infrastructure, storage systems, boilers and combined heat and power units, the technology can connect the electricity and heating sectors without requiring an entirely new energy system.
The video illustrates how Power-to-Gas can help make renewable energy more flexible, reliable and available throughout the year, particularly when generation and demand do not occur at the same time.
