Hydrogen Lab Bremerhaven - Fraunhofer IWES - Wenger Engineering
Hydrogen Lab Bremerhaven – Test center for the production, storage and use of hydrogen.
The Hydrogen Lab Bremerhaven (HLB), operated by Fraunhofer IWES, is a state-of-the-art research and testing facility for hydrogen technologies on a megawatt scale. Wenger Engineering designed, planned and implemented the facility as general contractor.
The HLB combines key elements of the hydrogen value chain within one integrated infrastructure, including hydrogen production, compression, storage and reconversion to electricity. Its flexible setup enables the testing, validation and optimization of individual components as well as complete hydrogen systems under realistic operating conditions.
A particular focus is placed on the interaction between renewable energy, especially wind power, and electrolytic hydrogen production. The facility supports the development of efficient electrolyzers, grid-compatible hydrogen systems and innovative solutions for future energy infrastructures.
The Hydrogen Lab Bremerhaven is also available to technology providers, manufacturers and industrial partners for research, development and validation projects.
