Green CAES delivers 100% emissions free storage with round trip efficiency of 63 to 68% and is available today. Hydrogen CAES can run on 100% methane or 100% hydrogen or a blend of the two, with an efficiency of 57 to 60%, and is especially suited to seasonal storage thanks to the extra energy density hydrogen offers when stored underground. The Hybrid CAES solution combines both approaches, reaching a round trip efficiency of 75 to 80% in combined heat and power mode.
