The DLR is actively engaged across the entire hydrogen research spectrum—from production and storage to utilization. Leveraging decades of expertise, its scientists strive to make hydrogen widely and efficiently usable. The Institute of Lightweight Systems focuses on developing lightweight, safe, and efficient storage solutions that enable long-distance hydrogen transport. To achieve this, DLR is creating innovative hydrogen tanks for mobile applications, seamlessly integrating them into diverse vehicles such as cars, buses, trucks, cargo bikes, trains, aircraft, and ships.
With its Virtual Product House, located in the ECOMAT Bremen the Institute is bridging the gap to industrial partners.
