Turning SOEC’s potential into industrial reality

Dynelectro is a Danish electrolyser OEM unlocking the full industrial and commercial potential of solid oxide electrolysis.

SOEC has long promised significantly higher efficiency than conventional electrolysis by using both electricity and heat to produce hydrogen. However, conventional SOEC systems have historically been constrained by stack degradation, limited operational flexibility and sensitivity to dynamic operation. These challenges have prevented SOEC’s inherent efficiency advantage from translating into a sufficiently robust and commercially attractive industrial solution.

Solving the conventional limitations of SOEC

Through its proprietary AC:DC technology, Dynelectro has solved the degradation challenge traditionally associated with SOEC stacks. By actively controlling and protecting the electrochemical process, the technology enables stable long-term performance while supporting sub-second load response and operation across the full load range.

Combined with system efficiencies of up to 90%, this allows customers to reduce electricity consumption, follow renewable power availability, respond to volatile electricity prices and maximise asset utilisation.

Enabling industry-leading hydrogen economics

The combination of high efficiency, durability and operational flexibility creates the potential for industry-leading hydrogen economics.

This potential has been independently supported by KBR through its technical and economic review of Syntholene’s geothermal-integrated SOEC platform for e-SAF production. The assessment identified a potential levelised cost of hydrogen of approximately US$1.75/kg H₂ under best-case Icelandic conditions and US$2.10/kg H₂ for broader deployment.

A flexible, dual-purpose energy asset

Dynelectro’s technology is inherently reversible, allowing the same system to operate as both an electrolyser and a fuel cell. Customers can produce green hydrogen when renewable electricity is abundant and generate electricity when power is scarce or more valuable.

Building on proven operating experience, an operating 250 kW deployment, a 1 MW in construction and larger MW-scale systems available, Dynelectro provides a scalable platform for hydrogen, e-SAF, e-methanol, e-methane, green ammonia and other industrial Power-to-X applications. Dynelectro turns SOEC’s theoretical advantages into practical performance, operational flexibility and stronger project economics.
