HySecunda develops the technological, regulatory frameworks and capacity-building required for the market ramp-up of green hydrogen in South Africa and the wider SADC region.
The project combines technology innovation, certification concepts, market development and training to accelerate the deployment of green hydrogen and its derivatives, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Research activities focus on advanced hydrogen sensors, durable materials and coatings for electrolysis systems, and solutions for hydrogen storage and transport. HySecunda is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR).
