Q Power is a Finnish technology company providing biological methanation and integrated Power-to-X solutions for converting carbon dioxide and renewable hydrogen into methane. Our particular focus is helping biogas producers turn the CO₂ separated during conventional biogas upgrading into additional renewable methane, increasing plant output and carbon utilization without requiring additional biogas feedstock.
Q Power’s proprietary solid-state biological methanation technology can utilize separated biogenic CO₂ or be integrated directly with raw biogas. The modular technology is suitable for both new and existing plants and can be configured as a stand-alone methanation system, integrated with existing upgrading equipment or delivered as a complete methanation and gas-processing plant. The resulting renewable methane can be used for grid injection, transport fuels and industrial applications, while eligible projects can access the developing European RFNBO eMethane market.
Beyond biogas applications, Q Power’s technology can utilize CO₂ recovered from industrial processes, fermentation, flue gases, direct air capture and other suitable carbon-containing streams. Our solutions can include CO₂ recovery and treatment, hydrogen production and electrolyser integration, methanation, product-gas polishing, compression, liquefaction and residual-gas recirculation.
Q Power provides services throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility studies, feed-gas testing and on-site piloting to process engineering, manufacturing, plant integration, installation, commissioning and lifecycle support.
Our technology is founded on more than 15 years of Power-to-X research, development and industrial experience. Q Power has completed numerous pilot and demonstration projects using different CO₂-containing gases and has delivered and commissioned a 3 MW industrial-scale eMethane plant in Finland.
