UFI HYDROGEN is the Italian company, part of the UFI Group, entirely focused on the hydrogen value chain. Established in 2023 after seven years of R&D in the sector, the company is dedicated to research and development, implementation, and industrialization of MEA Technology – Membrane Electrode Assembly – catalyzed membranes for four types of applications: green hydrogen production through water electrolysis; clean electricity generation by transforming hydrogen with fuel cells; E-Fuel transformation combining captured CO2 with green hydrogen; the electrochemical compression for purification, transport and storage of hydrogen. UFI HYDROGEN is headquartered in Trentino, in northern Italy, and also has a legal entity in China (Jiaxing), where it has signed a partnership to support hydrogen development with SINOPEC, the largest Chinese petroleum and petrochemical company. It is also active in Tunisia, supporting the Mattei Plan with a pilot green hydrogen production plant destined for Europe through the SoutH2 Corridor.
UFI HYDROGEN aims to become the leading Italian hub for green hydrogen technologies. It has developed a global network of research collaborations that have led to innovative MEA solutions, ensuring high performance, competitiveness, and durability.
UFI HYDROGEN is actively supported by the Autonomous Province of Trento and FBK (Fondazione Bruno Kessler). It is the only Italian company promoted in the IPCEI Hy2Move project of the European Commission for the development of innovative MEAs for fuel cells, targeting sectors such as road transport, maritime, aviation, and industry.
