water stuff & sun (WSS) is a German hydrogen startup on a mission to make renewable hydrogen fossil-fuel competitive.
Founded by hydrogen pioneers with more than 70 years of combined experience, WSS brings together world-class expertise in hydrogen storage, fuel cells, engines, MEMS, and industrialization. Led by Thomas Korn and Alvaro Sousa, both former BMW executives and co-founders of KEYOU, together with inventor Jonas Flädjemark, the team is building the next hydrogen infrastructure standard.
WSS combines a patented physical storage technology with a digital operating system. Its H2 Battery enables safe, modular, and cost-efficient hydrogen storage, while HIOS manages logistics, certification, liability, and settlement. Together, they create a scalable infrastructure architecture for renewable hydrogen - the H2 Rolling Pipeline.
Protected by 11 patent families, WSS has validated its H2 Battery technology to TRL 6 with support from SPRIND. The company is now preparing industrialization with manufacturing partners, backed by initial customer purchase orders and first commercial projects planned for 2027.
