From the Idea to Application Readiness
WTZ Roßlau gGmbH is a non-profit, independent, medium-sized research organisation based in Dessau-Roßlau, Germany. For more than 75 years, WTZ has served as an important link between science and industry in the field of energy conversion. Guided by its principle “From the idea to application readiness”, WTZ transforms scientific findings and innovative concepts into robust, practical solutions for industrial companies and small and medium-sized enterprises.
WTZ specialises in application-oriented combustion process development, the independent testing of innovative propulsion technologies and the development of sustainable energy systems. Its extensive expertise in research, test bench operation and system development enables new fuels and energy carriers to be investigated under realistic operating conditions.
A particular focus is placed on hydrogen and its derivatives, especially ammonia as a promising energy carrier for storage, transport and future propulsion and power generation applications. WTZ develops and evaluates combustion concepts, injection technologies and integrated system solutions for the efficient, safe and low-emission use of these energy carriers. Methanol represents an additional area of expertise, particularly in the development and testing of fuel systems, injection components and suitable materials.
WTZ’s range of services covers the entire development process, from scientific concept development and system design to component testing, optimisation and experimental validation. Fuel handling, operational safety, efficiency, emissions and integration into technical applications are considered from a comprehensive system perspective.
Through interdisciplinary expertise and close cooperation with partners from science and industry, WTZ contributes to the decarbonisation of future propulsion and energy systems. Its aim is to advance hydrogen technologies and their derivatives and support their transition from research into reliable industrial applications.
