Schneider Electric has been chosen to work with the Hy Stor hydrogen project

An agreement has been made, which will see Schneider Electric supporting Hy Stor Energy’s Mississippi Clean Hydrogen Hub (MCHH). Schneider Electric will offer support in the form of the company’s management and automation solutions.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been created between these companies for this project and it states that Schneider Electric will perform both automation and safety services. The purpose of this project overall, is to provide the electrolysers with clean energy.

Through this MOU, Schneider Electric has now become the main contractor concerning automation and electrical business for this project. They have also become the partner for digital energy management, as well as automation solutions. This will be the case for the company throughout all of Hy Stor’s operations.

The expectation for this hub, is for it to produce an estimated 110 million kilogrammes of hydrogen every year. It will also store over 70kg within salt caverns that are located underground. The plan for this project, is for it to enter commercial service in 2025.

CEO and Founder of Hy Stor, Laura Luce, commented that, ‘the partnership will offer “innovation to enhance the efficiency, safety and reliability throughout the entirety of Hy Stor Energy’s renewable hydrogen and long duration storage platform.”’

Senior Vice-President, Industrial and Process Automation North America at Schneider Electric, Heather Cykoski, mentioned, “Projects like the MCHH will help usher in the transition from fossil fuels to more sustainable forms of energy. Our collaboration will help Hy Stor optimise their facility, from engineering and operation through energy management and storage.”
