Germany Bolsters Support for the Use of Green Hydrogen in Transport

by | Feb 8, 2023

As the German government works to facilitate the use of green hydrogen, the country’s infrastructure for its production and utilization is taking form. AEE provided a map indicating that 60 projects have already been established, each boasting an average capacity of 110 megawatts (MW), equal to that of a sizeable solar power farm. Furthermore, another 80 projects are currently in the planning or development stages, reported Hydrogen Central.

The Transport Ministry (BDMV) has dedicated 80 million euros for investments that enable the utilization of green hydrogen in transport.

Volker Wissing, transport minister said in a statement: “Lorry producers estimate that nearly one in five registered utility vehicles will be powered by hydrogen.

Until late April, those wishing to invest in projects using renewable power to produce green hydrogen exclusively for the transport sector can apply for support, provided the capacity is at least one MW.
