Bart Biebuyck is the Founder and CEO of Hybart BV, a strategic advisory and project development company focused on accelerating hydrogen, industrial decarbonisation, and clean energy infrastructure projects across Europe and internationally. Through Hybart, he supports governments, investors, developers, and industrial companies in translating ambitious decarbonisation goals into bankable and executable projects. He is also co-founder of the recently launched Global Liquid Hydrogen Alliance (GLHA), an international platform dedicated to accelerating the deployment of liquid hydrogen as a scalable zero-emission fuel and clean energy carrier. In parallel, Bart serves as CEO and founding member of Green Energy Park (GEP), whose work has been recognised as a European Union Global Gateway Flagship. Prior to his current roles, Bart served as Technical Senior Manager in the Fuel Cell Department of Toyota Motor Europe, where he contributed to the deployment of hydrogen mobility technologies and fuel cell vehicles across Europe. While at Toyota, he was involved in the development of Belgium’s first public hydrogen refuelling station in Zaventem, which opened in 2016. Through the Clean Energy Partnership (CEP) in Berlin and two years of professional experience in Japan, he further developed his expertise in hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. In addition to his industrial experience, Bart has been politically active in his local town since 2006. In 2013, he became Vice President of the City Council, with responsibilities including local economy and education. In 2016, Bart was appointed Executive Director of the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking, now the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, a public-private partnership between the European Commission, industry, and the research community. During his seven-year tenure, he helped shape Europe’s hydrogen strategy, negotiated the €2 billion Clean Hydrogen Partnership, and played a leading role in establishing flagship initiatives such as the European Hydrogen Valleys Partnership, involving around 40 European regions, the European Hydrogen Week, and the European Hydrogen Bank. In 2020, Bart received the Benelux Parliament Award for his scientific contribution to hydrogen and clean energy. In 2025, he received the World Hydrogen Awards Person of the Year title and the Order of Merit “Renascença do Piauí”, in recognition of his contributions to the hydrogen economy and green industrial development.
