Gabriele Ferrara
Principal Consultant, Risk Advisory,
DNV
Chartered Chemical Engineer with 20 years’ experience in the Safety and Loss Prevention Area.
Gabriele has earned his PhD on Vented Gas Explosion and is author and co-author of several papers on international journals and/or conferences about the experimental and numerical study of hazardous events (toxic and flammable releases, fires and explosions).
He has cultivated a true passion for the most sophisticated computational techniques (3D - CFD) for safety-related problems that has always balanced with the necessary pragmatism for the practical resolution of problems and the clear, simple and transparent communications of results.
Gabriele has worked on numerous international Oil&Gas Projects for onshore and offshore installations. Through the execution of these Projects he has built solid skills on many Safety/Loss Prevention related activities like: Hazard Identification, Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), Consequence Modelling, Ventilation, Hazardous Area Classification, Fire and Gas Detection, Passive Fire Protection and Active Fire Protection.
He has gained good knowledge of the main international safety standards (ISO, IEC, API, NFPA etc.) and extensive experience in the use of traditional and more sophisticated (3D-CFD) tools for the assessment of safety-related accidental scenarios.
In all the projects he has worked, he has been responsible for defining the scope, objectives, methodology, computational tool, execution of the work and/or Quality Assessment, technical reporting and presentation of results consistently with the requirements/expectations of Client/Company and/or local/international regulations. During the execution of these projects, he has matured high-standard reporting skills in terms of clear explanation of the executed work and the impacts of the conclusions on the design.
