Since 2024 Dr. Geert Tjarks is Managing Director of EWE HYDROGEN GmbH, which is responsible for hydrogen production at EWE AG. He also worked at EWE GASSPEICHER GmbH as Head of Business Unit Development Hydrogen and was responsible for the business strategy for hydrogen as well as for the political and economic networks for the implementation of the strategy at EWE AG. Before joining EWE, he worked for four years at the National Organisation for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology - NOW GmbH in Berlin. At NOW, he was responsible for international cooperation and represented the German government in various international multilateral bodies for hydrogen technologies. In 2019 and 2020, he supported the German government in the development of the national hydrogen strategy. In January 2017, he completed his PhD at RWTH Aachen University with a focus on water electrolysis systems.
