Holger Matthiesen

Holger Matthiesen is an internationally experienced manager in the renewable energy industry with a focus on offshore wind and hydrogen.
Since 2024, Matthiesen has worked as Director Offshore Wind & Green Hydrogen at the Hamburg-based infrastructure investor Luxcara. In this role, he serves as the Managing Director for the Green Hydrogen Hub Hamburg (HGHH), a cutting-edge green hydrogen production hub at the former Moorburg coal power plant. In addition, Matthiesen is developing, among other things, the Waterekke (1.5 GW) and Waterkant (300 MW) offshore wind farm projects in the German North Sea for Luxcara.
Previously, he held senior positions at Aker Horizons and Mainstream Renewable Power, where he was responsible for offshore wind development in Europe and emerging global markets. Other career stops included RWE Renewables and E.ON Climate & Renewables.
In 2025, the German Offshore Wind Energy Association (BWO) has elected Holger Matthiesen to its Executive Board.
