Pieter Tavenier is the Director of the CCS Business Line at Gasunie, where he plays a central role in developing an international CO₂ transport and storage network for Northwestern Europe. With more than twenty years of experience in energy business development, strategy and corporate finance, he combines sharp analytical insight with strong execution skills.
Under his leadership, Gasunie works with partners on a series of cross-border CCS initiatives, including Porthos, Aramis, CO2next, the Delta Rhine Corridor and the Delta Schelde CO₂nnection. These projects form the foundation of an integrated, futureproof CO₂ network that connects industries in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium to storage sites beneath the North Sea.
His vision is clear: “You focus on your business. We handle your CO₂.” Together with governments and project partners, Gasunie aims to provide the certainty that first movers need through futureproof infrastructure and clear market structures. He emphasizes the importance of collaboration between industry, government and European partners to make CCS scalable and affordable.
