Dr. Sven Anders is Professor of Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology at the University of Alberta. His research in energy transition brings together behavioural economic and survey experimental methods to advance public policy objectives. Dr. Anders research focuses on generating insight into citizen and firm behaviours at the intersection of technology innovation, localized benefit cost trade-offs, and public preferences for energy supply. Building on a rich understanding of the complex interplay between land resources, energy, and the environment his research track record includes many examples of national and international, interdisciplinary, and collaborative projects. His research experience includes economic valuations of energy systems, including seismicity risk assessments of carbon capture and storage, public policy analyses that investigate benefit-cost-risk trade-offs, when aspect of distributional and procedural fairness matter to individual- and community level choice behaviours in the face of sustainability.
