Advancing Green Hydrogen Production
Green hydrogen projects are suffering high CAPEX costs driving up green hydrogen prices. Of course, there is a permanent and evolutionary development on the electrolyser stack and cell level itself improving OPEX & CAPEX, however CAPEX on stack level reflects less than 15% of the overall EPC cost of such a project. As the PEM process happens on a surface, and as we need to separate the gases, the positive scale up effects bringing down CAPEX by higher capacity will stay limited compared to blue or grey Hydrogen processes like ATR.
This presentation will cover the other factors we can lever related to project execution, layout, codes & standards, product standardisation and contracting strategy, all of which influence the overall investment significantly. As it is not yet clear what industry will dominate the production of green hydrogen in the future, there is an added complexity that each industry follows different strategies and standards. As an OEM of electrolysers, it is critical to define products in a way that addresses both scenarios for customers.
We will also explore collaborative approaches with clients and partners to minimise cost, along with risk, to foster the success story of green hydrogen and a sustainable future.
