Gummiwerk KRAIBURG exhibiting at the Hydrogen Technology World Expo 2025 in Hamburg
)
Gummiwerk KRAIBURG, a leading manufacturer of rubber and silicone compounds, will be exhibiting at the Hydrogen Technology World Expo 2025. The trade fair, taking place from October 21–23 in Hamburg, is regarded as a key platform for the latest technologies and developments in the hydrogen industry
At the core of Gummiwerk KRAIBURG's exhibit are high-performance elastomer compounds specifically developed for the demands of hydrogen technology. The company places a particular focus on permeation resistance, media resistance and process integration – all essential properties for the safe and cost-effective use of hydrogen systems. As a trusted partner in the development of technical compounds, Gummiwerk KRAIBURG will showcase innovative materials developed for components used in hydrogen electrolysis and fuel cells.
Compounds for the challenges of hydrogen technology
A key focus is on solutions for PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) electrolysis. This technology, with its dynamic operating conditions, highly acidic environment (pH < 2), high operating pressure, and compact design, places particularly high demands on the materials used. In addition, Gummiwerk KRAIBURG also offers compounds for alkaline electrolysis (AEL and AEM), for example for use in frame, cell and end plate seals, as well as for peripheral components such as gas distributors, cooling circuits, hose and piping systems or housing elements.
The elastomer compounds developed by Gummiwerk KRAIBURG are characterized by very low hydrogen permeation, high thermochemical stability and outstanding resilience throughout their service life. In practice, this ensures seals and hoses that deliver reliable performance even under the most extreme conditions.
In addition, special attention was given during development to minimizing leaching. By reducing the release of ions – particularly metal ions – the risk of potential damage to membranes or catalysts is significantly lowered. Furthermore, the compounds are optimized for cost-efficient processing, making them ideally suited for series production.
A tradition of quality, safety and innovation
The compounds developed by Gummiwerk KRAIBURG have been tested by renowned institutions such as BAM (the German Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing), TÜV (an independent German Technical Inspection Association) and DVGW (the German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water). They are also resistant to explosive decompression, making them particularly suitable for safety-critical applications. With this development, Gummiwerk KRAIBURG once again demonstrates its expertise in providing high-quality elastomer solutions, contributing to the safe and efficient use of hydrogen.
“Our compounds enable seals and hoses that perform reliably even under the extreme conditions of hydrogen technology – long-term and safely. The Hydrogen Technology World Expo is an excellent opportunity for us to combine our expertise in high-quality elastomer solutions with the specific demands of the hydrogen industry. We look forward to engaging with leading companies and experts in the industry,” explains Johannes Helldobler, Business Development Manager at Gummiwerk KRAIBURG.
