Current and voltage measurement in HV aluminum and copper cables
Voltage and current measurements can be performed reliably and safely in high voltage applications with the. The "split" design consists of three components for placement of the measurement technology wherever space allows. Due to separating the measurement of voltage and current from data acquisition and transmission hardware, the sizes are significantly reduced compared to conventional CSM HV Breakout Modules yet leverage their proven technology. As high-voltage aluminum cables are increasingly used in electric vehicles, CSM offers a variant for the HV-safe measurement of current and voltage in aluminum cables as well as a variant for the use of copper cables. For very precise results, it is essential to measure directly from the inner conductors. This applies to both high-frequency current and voltage measurements at test benches and road tests. The HV cables are connected to the modules using ring terminals. Because of the risk to users and equipment that is associated with HV environments, the housings provide the required isolated enclosure to limit accidental contact with the inner conductors.
