Comprehensive Expertise
Linde is uniquely positioned to manage the full hydrogen lifecycle. Our technologies span from production and purification to delivery and end-use, backed by deep research and real-world implementation. This makes us a reliable partner for hydrogen projects of any scale.
Expanding Applications
Hydrogen is gaining momentum as a clean energy carrier. It powers zero-emission vehicles like trains, buses, and cars, and serves as a feedstock in industries such as chemicals, refining, and steel. It also provides heat and electricity for buildings and helps store renewable energy.
Pathways to Hydrogen
Hydrogen can be produced via steam reforming of natural gas (gray hydrogen), with carbon capture (blue hydrogen), or through electrolysis using renewable energy (green hydrogen). Linde supports all these methods, enabling flexible, low-carbon production.
Advanced Processing
Linde offers cryogenic separation, pressure swing adsorption (PSA), and hybrid membrane-PSA systems to purify hydrogen. We also recover CO₂ using technologies like RECTISOL® wash and Post Combustion Capture (PCC). Captured CO₂ can be reused or stored. Additionally, we provide synthesis plants for green ammonia and methanol, and cryogenic systems to liquefy hydrogen for efficient storage and transport.
Efficient Distribution and Storage
Hydrogen can be delivered via pipelines, stored in cryogenic tanks, or transported in liquid form using vacuum-insulated containers. For large-scale storage, underground salt caverns are an option. Linde operates such a facility in Texas. Hydrogen can also be converted into ammonia or methanol for easier transport.
Enabling Clean Mobility
Linde Hydrogen FuelTech leads in hydrogen refueling infrastructure, with over 190 stations worldwide. Our compression and cryogenic pump technologies enable fast, safe refueling. We’ve launched small-series production of hydrogen stations, offering scalable solutions tailored to customer needs.
