STEC— World's First CCU Project in Glass industry (Annual Capture Capacity: 50,000 Tons)
This project utilizes 35% concentration CO₂ flue gas generated by the oxy-fuel combustion glass furnace of China National Building Materials (Hefei) New Energy Resources Co., Ltd. as feedstock. It employs a three-step process to produce industrial-grade or food-grade liquid carbon dioxide products.
Step 1: Carbon-avoiding desulfurization and denitrification technology is applied.
Step 2: Concentration enhancement via the pressure swing adsorption (PSA) method.
Step 3: Further purification of CO₂ gas through an adsorption-distillation method to remove impurities, achieving CO₂ purity of 99.99% or higher.
Upon successful operation, this project fills the global technological gap in CO₂ capture, purification, and application within the glass industry and pioneers the large-scale recycling and utilization of CO₂ in the glass sector worldwide.
